We’re back (hopefully!)

Hi all,

First of all, please accept our apologies for the “press silence”: like probably everybody else, this year has been a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences with the pandemic still going strong almost everywhere in the beautiful Planet Earth. Obviously, we cannot complain about how things have been unfolding for us: we all have been able to work - from home - during the whole lockdown, we know that we are lucky. However, it has been quite stressful: taking time to adjust to the new way of working as well as checking in on us and keeping in touch with our families. But, as they say, “love conquers all” and despite the global pandemic...Laura got married! A beautiful wedding that brought a lot of joy during these uncertain times (all happened with a lot of efforts from the two love birds to get a wedding in line with / compliant with the government guidelines, that also allowed Laura’s family to take part from Italy via Zoom and a YouTube live!).

We have also had nice moments and revelations when the lockdown was a bit less severe in our heads and in real life; Laura’s wedding has probably been one of the few chances to see each other in person (we live in different areas, and cannot meet right now); we learned to enjoy the little things, like talking about food, eating said food, occasional venting about challenges at work, and the support from colleagues and friends; we shared the preoccupation for our families in Italy, and reassured ourselves that everything will end well. Even if Luca has been incredibly reluctant to Zoom/Whatsapp chats, we did a couple, and it has been a very nice and pleasant (Luca adds surrogate) experience. We learned to make the proverbial virtue out of necessity. And we feel as close as when we could see each other.

All this to say that (we should be) back, ready to provide you with the latest experiences from your three favourite librarians!

We hope you’ll have a festive season full of [ADD HERE], [ADD HERE] and [ADD HERE]. It may look like we have not finished writing the blog. Instead, we just wanted to give you the opportunity to choose how to fill the gaps, based on whatever you love the most. For us, it will probably be delicious food, books and relax!

Best wishes,

The WOSB Team
